Our minds are like little universes.
Composed of planets such as thoughts, feelings, memories, and stories. Some parts dark and cold, others bright and fiery like stars. Navigating it all can feel intimidating, but poetry can help us find our orbit.
This is the little universe of Lo Bellafont, showcasing a whimsical and surreal side to poetry. Divided into five categories, her allegories, poems, and illustrations highlight themes of self-discovery, longing, humor, mental illness, and healing.
This is for those that find their solace through art and literature.

Our Responsibility
Perhaps we are just energy,
An extension of the earth,
Fingers of a giant,
Who wanted to traverse.
Volts of power from the planets’ core,
Because it wanted to move,
And be able to do so much more.
Perhaps we are just matter,
Floating through the dark,
Just a combination of blocks,
To carry forth a spark.
It is our responsibility
To live life to the full,
It is our grand and noble burden
To not be still and dull.
For how sad it would be
To waste the atoms’ curiosity.
For how wrong we got it
If we think we earn through normalcy.
But a part of living our life fully,
Is caring for the home
From which that life came.
For we and the soil,
Are one in the same.
We have a disconnected mentality.
But humans do not exist
On some separate plane of reality.
To care for the earth,
Is to care for ourselves.
It is not too late, to awake.
To stumble through the dark
To show off our spark,
And let the tenderness of the ground
Extend through our actions.
It does not take a huge gesture
To fix a problem in society.
It takes you stepping out the door,
To be a little kind, to be a little wild.
Make yourself, and others smile.
Each day pick a pain to ease,
Pick a solution to be a part of.
Don’t focus on the beasts,
Focus on the flowers
That are being trampled beneath their feet.
And save one.
One at a time.
